New York Lolling Chair 831

This Kindel reproduction from the Winterthur Museum is hand-crafted of solid Mahogany and is faithful to the original made in New York between 1810 and 1820 by Duncan Phyfe. The fine reeding on the scroll back, the seat, padded arm and arm supports duplicate the superb details of the original. The curvilinear shape of this chair was inspired by the Sella Curulis or folding stool with an arch-shaped base, found on ancient Roman magistrates chairs. The ottoman (83) is an interpretation specifically designed to compliment the chair.
